Getting to Barbados

All international airlines arrive at the Grantley Adams International Airport.   The airport is located 13km (8 miles) southeast from the capital Bridgetown. The airport code is BGI.

Travelling around Barbados

 To get around Barbados from the airport, there are a number of options:

  • Airport accredited taxis are located outside the arrival hall.  Official taxi’s bear the “Authorised Taxi” logo.  Participants should avoid using, un-official taxis as they may not adhere to official fares.  Travel to the Hilton Hotel is BDS$40.
  • Public transport is also available from the airport to the city.  These buses run on an hourly basis, costing BDS$2.

Numerous car rental companies are available on the island, offering a wide range of vehicle choices. As an added courtesy, many of them will deliver your car to the airport or hotel, as well as arrange for you to obtain the mandated local drivers permit.
